London Burgers Baggio Burger

3 New(ish) Burgers on the Block

About 4 years ago I thought the burger bubble would have burst by now.  Not in as much the way that burgers would just go away… but more in the way that people would not try and break into the burger scene in London.  Honestly, I’m glad that the bubble has not burst, I’m excited that new burgers are coming on to the scene.  I’m optimistic that some of the OG burger joints are upping their game.  I’m wondering if we really need a branch of Whalburgers?

Like most things in life all the fresh and exciting talent comes from the street. Food is no different. In order to stand out, you need to carve your niche.  Here are three of my favourite New Kids on the (Burger) Block.

Baggio Burger

Baggio Burger

I often have a hindering prejudges against gimmick when it comes to burgers. I think that is why it took me so long to try Baggio Burger. Baggio burger has been turning out his Italo burgers for a little while. I fell for the Classic Roberto with its perfectly cooked pink centre patty, topped with mozzarella, crispy Parma ham, sun-dried tomato relish, pickles and rocket in a seeded brioche bun. They also do epic italo loaded fries at their pub residency.

Zephyr

Zephyr

With the exception of Shake shack, there are no burgers that really nail that fresh sunshine California feel. So, what a ray of light these burgers are from Zephyr. Their DOUBLE DOUBLE burger patty made with Ginger Pig/a> beef, its griddle smashed and mustard fried. They add in lettuce tomato crispy red onion and pickled chilies for a touch of heat. Yeah, they are easy on the eyes, but they are a joy to eat. Love the simplicity of this burger where the ingredients just shine. They also do breakfast burgers at Church Street Market that are the perfect way to start any day!

Truffle

Truffle

With a name like Truffle you expect indulgence…. I’ve had a couple of indulgent burgers that really missed their mark thankfully @trufflelondon. Delivers. The signature burger has a chuck and smoked streaky bacon patty… yep bacon in the patty folk! They top the patty with melted raclette cheese, truffle mayo, fried shallots and drizzle with a fig jam. They stuff it in a buttery brioche bun. It’s a delicious burger that’s indulgent, without feeling over the top. The flavours are perfectly balanced. They are not only dab hands at the burger making… their beef shin nuggets are well worth an order too.
